On January 5th, 2018 the Mississippi Music Project presented awards and honorary memberships to Mr. Tito Jackson, BB King and the BB King Blues Band prior to their performance at the IP Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.
President and MMP Founder, Commander Joseph Clark personally presented the awards and gave a speech. He was joined by fellow MMP Officers and MMP Members including: Co-Founder Alisa Clark, Secretary/Treasurer Alexis Paige, Senior Vice-President Randy Burch and his wife Cathy, MMP Researcher William Lewis, and MMP Member Kevin Edwards and guests. MMP President Commander Clark invited the Mayor of Biloxi to attend, Mayor Andrew “Fo-Fo” Gillich, who welcomed the awardees to Biloxi.
Each awardee received a nice glass/acrylic award and a framed “Honorary Membership” Certificate. Each awardee made a very emotional acceptance speech. Memories of B.B. King filled the room. Everyone in attendance was very nice to the MMP group and we were able to spend a much longer time than we anticipated with Tito Jackson and the Band. Commander Joe Clark shared stories about how he met B.B. King and the band in Bosnia during the war when B.B. Came to entertain the troops in 1996. A lot of memories were shared between everyone. Tito Jackson spent a lot of time talking and taking pictures with the MMP members who were present.
The Commander would like to let everyone in attendance and the awardees how much he appreciates everyone that made the event so successful. Commander Joe Clark would like to specifically thank Mr. Robert Terrell and Mr. Terry Harvey for allowing The Mississippi Music Project this opportunity. Also, we would like to thank Ryan Meyers and the IP Casino for their hospitality. Also, we would like to thank Mr. Cliff Kirkland with the City of Biloxi and the Mayor of Biloxi, Mayor Andrew “Fo-Fo” Gilich. We would also like to thank the B.B. King Museum.
